What Is the Hidden Character Finder?

This page scans text for hidden Unicode characters you can't see. They look like empty space or nothing at all, but they're in the string, and they break things in code, usernames, messages, and content.

Use it to detect zero-width spaces, Hangul fillers, Braille blanks, directional marks, and dozens of other invisible Unicode characters.

How to Use the Finder

  1. Paste your text into the text box above.
  2. Click "Analyze Text".
  3. The results panel shows how many hidden characters were found.
  4. Each one is marked with an orange dot in the annotated view.
  5. The breakdown section lists every invisible character type found.

Why Check for Invisible Characters?

Hidden characters end up in text more often than you'd think. Copy-pasting from websites, documents, or chat apps can silently introduce invisible Unicode without you knowing:

  • Fake usernames: Someone's display name looks identical to yours, but theirs has invisible characters stuffed in. They're impersonating you and nobody can tell by looking.
  • Mysterious blank messages: You received a message that looks empty but it's not. The truth is there are hidden characters inside that don't show up on screen.
  • Broken bios and posts: You pasted text into your Instagram bio or TikTok name and it looks wrong, gets rejected, or shows unexpected spacing. Hidden characters from the source text are the usual cause.
  • Forms that won't submit: You filled out a form or search field and it behaves strangely. Invisible characters copied along with your text can confuse websites and apps.
